What I’m pinning: Oscars party
I’m not a huge awards-season junkie (besides checking out what everyone is wearing from time to time), but I can’t miss the Oscars. Last year at this time, we were a little distracted, so I’m excited to slow down tomorrow night and take it all in. Plus, host Seth McFarlane is one of my absolute faves!
Though I didn’t get it together early enough to actually throw an Oscars party this year, I’m still fantasizing about the fun that could be had with one. Some of my favorite ideas:
- Popcorn and concessions. I love the idea of serving flavored popcorn and movie candy alongside adult beverages. So fun!
- Games. There are a ton of awesome, free Oscars printables making their way around the Interwebs this year. My faves: Oscars Bingo from BHG and these Ballots from Huffington Post. And, you don’t need to throw a party to play these games — hubby and I totally plan to get involved in a little Bingo by our lonesome
- Creative party foods. If you’re looking to get a little more creative with your party food, Babble put together a great collection of recipes to tie in with the movie nominees (think Philly Cheesesteak sliders for Silver Linings Playbook). But, something as easy as a piece of star fruit as a garnish on a cocktail is a nice, festive touch, too

You are just like my girlfriend. She is hooked to the point where she doesn’t take calls and holds an imitation Oscar statuette as she watches intently. I never thought of it like another Super Bowl party with snacks and such though. Definitely food for thought.
