My little milestones: 1 year and C’s party pics
I can’t believe that my baby girl is a 1-year-old! It seems like yesterday that we were marveling at her sweet newborn fingers and toes, and trying to figure out how to react to her various beeps and squeaks. Now, she’s a full-on toddler who “talks,” walks (occasionally) and eats. Here’s what our 1-year-old is up to:
- Not quite walking, but taking lots of steps on her own!
- Talking. Vocabulary now includes favorites such as “baby,” “ball,” and “la la la.”
- Dancing. Little girl loves to shake her tail feather.
- Throwing tantrums. She’s also figured out to do a talk to the hand head shake move (we’re in for it when this one hits the terrible two’s).
- Trying new foods. Current favorite? Turkey and cheese sandwiches.
- Riding in her new wagon. Best. Gift. Ever.
- Transitioning off of the bottle. We’re down to two bottles a day now. C is loving her cups!
Last month, I gave you the scoop on what we planned to celebrate C’s biggest milestone yet, and how we hoped to capture the moment. Well, everything went swimmingly, and we had an absolutely fabulous little birthday party for our baby girl. The awesome Mel of Cole Collective helped us to document the day. Thank you Mel, for capturing these memories so beautifully! Here are some of my favorite moments from our little gathering:
When C woke up from her nap, the living room had been transformed into a birthday wonderland. It was so fun to see her exclaim with joy as she discovered everything that we had prepared! We kept our party small, but still had a few babies in attendance. I made the favors extra festive with tags from sweet Etsy shop, Blooming Events. And remember that adorable ‘A’ from my lady friend’s baby shower? I loved it so much, I had to hit up Bless Her Heart Designs for one for C.
Knowing that C is Yo Gabba Gabba’s #1 fan, Lita got her Muno and Foofa dolls for her big gift. Needless to say Foofa photo-bombed pretty much every picture we took!
Before the guests arrived, we spent some time outside taking some pics. Dad and C were caught by a few surprise rain drops and had a good laugh.
Lita and C took some sweet photos together.
And, Lita made C giggle while Mel captured the moment.
Then, Dad took C for her first spin in her birthday gift from us!She loved it.
Once the party got started, we enjoyed some snacks (more like a feast) from one of our Austin faves, East Side King. OMG y’all, if you’re in the ATX and haven’t tried it yet, you absolutely must! The food is amazing, and ESK really outdid themselves to make C’s party special. Thanks, guys!
I tried my hand at creating the cute caterpillar sandwiches I found on Pinterest, and was marginally successful. They may have looked a little misshapen, but C and her pals ate them up like they were going out of style. I’m pretty sure I have to make round sandwiches all the time now.
My baking-pro friend, Claudia, whipped up an absolutely gorgeous VHC cupcake/cake creation. I showed her the pic I pinned for inspiration, and it turned out even better! Not to mention the fact that it was delicious. And, the caterpillar head detached perfectly for smash cake purposes (more to come on that shortly). How cute is the photo frame I made for C’s monthly photos, y’all?
C schmoozed with her party guests (remember Oscar and Wyatt?) as we killed time until the big cake-eating extravaganza. She had a ball!
My baby girl and I shared some sweet moments.
And finally, the big smash-cake event arrived. C encountered it for the first time and didn’t quite know what to make of it!
Dad finally coaxed her to eat a bite and she realized that CAKE IS THE BEST EVER.
What a perfect day! Thanks to all to helped to make it so special, especially our family and friends — and now you, dear readers — who shared it with us. And again, heartfelt thanks to sweet Mel for capturing the big day so perfectly. My heart is filled with warm fuzzies!
