January Round Up

Howdy, pals! Well, the first month of 2013 is behind us, and I’m feeling pretty great about the year to come. It’s been a fun month at our casa, and we celebrated lots of big happenings on the blog too. In case you missed it, here’s what went down in January:

• We rang in the new year with close friends, yummy cocktails and tasty bites. Not only was it a pretty perfect start to 2013, but I also learned my new favorite recipe for stuffed mushrooms. Joy!
• I introduced a new series all about my favorite dads: The Dad Department. I kicked things off with Oscar and sweet Wyatt (how precious is this duo?).
• I revamped C’s prayer book to give her a prettier way to remember our family and friends at bedtime.
• C started communicating with us via sign language. Since then, she now uses the signs for ‘more’ and ‘all done’ during daily activities, which is actually quite hilarious.
• I curled up with a good book — The Newlyweds.
• We celebrated 11 months and started gearing up for C’s big 1-year party. I can’t wait to see how our birthday photos turn out this weekend!
• I daydreamed about a potential family vacation this year. Food and wine will be involved.
• I guest posted on the fabulous 365 Bastrop blog, and awesome Allyson from Schaeffer Shenanigans shared some tips with us about moving cross country with a baby.
• You captioned a funny photo of C in a stand off with a goat for a chance to win family admission to the Austin Zoo and Animal Sanctuary! I hope Angela and her family had a fun day trip.
• I threw my lady friend a winter white and purple baby shower to celebrate the arrival of Ava in a few weeks. What a fun day! I’m still dreaming of that amazing cake.
• Tranquil Turtle beat out Sleep Sheep for the title of Chief of Awesome at our house.
• I diagnosed myself with ‘momnesia,’ and was annoyed about it.
• I created a date night playlist for your upcoming romantical Valentine’s Day.
• Last but not least — thanks to your support, amazing readers! — I made the list for the 2013 Circle of Moms Top 25 Creative Moms! I am among incredible company, so if you’re into getting crafty, head on over and check out some of the other great blogs on this list.
