The amazing, skin-clearing shampoo, Selsun Blue. I’m a huge fan of the moisturizing formula!

It’s true — every night, C washes her hair with Selsun Blue. She smells like an elderly person at times (bless her heart), but it’s truly a lifesaver. The reason for this is that after breaking out in an uncomfortable red rash all over her face and scalp as a wee babe, C was diagnosed with cradle cap. Our pediatrician recommended that we treat her predicament with Selsun Blueand within literally 24 hours of starting her nightly Selsun regimen, C’s skin was 100% clear. Now almost 10 months later, if we go even one bath without using SB, she starts to break out. The only downside to this miracle shampoo is the fact that it is definitely not tear-free. The few times it has gotten in her eyes, it has been a traumatic event for all of us. Luckily, we’ve been able to establish a hair-washing system that helps us to avoid this awful happening.

Does your babe have an odd health regimen? Do tell in the comments!

Selsun Blue? WOW I had no idea this could be used for baby. You really do learn something new everyday! My kiddo had cradle cap and lost most of his hair much like a man with a receding hairline. :( Once his hair grew in I just kept letting his beautiful hair grow.

I didnt know you could use that on babies! I wish I would have known that back when my babies had cradle cap!

It’s true – strange but effective remedy! Who knew?

I never thought to use it on babies either. A lot of my (8) kids had cradle cap at some time or another, and we always just smothered their heads with natural olive oil and let it sit for about 45 minutes, and then brushed their hair with a soft baby brush, washed with gentle baby shampoo, and it usually came out no problem! But I’m sure there are other remedies as well.

We used vaseline. It seemed to help. Thanks for the honest review :)

I know a lot of babies get a case of cradle cap, but it never seems to be an ongoing thing. I certainly didn’t know this was something for babies. I worry about all the chemicals we expose ourselves to in a day, month, and year. I’m starting to slowly change out one product at a time to organics.

I didn’t know you could use Selsun Blue also. That’s good that it works for C. Have you tried other products such as Aveeno baby or Baby Bee Gone? I haven’t tried them on J, but have heard of their great reviews. We just used baby oil. We would rub it in and used the baby brush from the hospital to rub it off (at least that’s what our pedi told us to do, which seemed to work). Hope you find a shampoo for C that doesn’t hurt her eyes.
